NONG NAM PHU

Nong Nam Phut Ton Lang is a small body of water in a border community in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province. It was once a tourist attraction where visitors came to witness the remarkable phenomenon of water bubbling up like a spring whenever people clapped their hands or made loud noises. Over time, however, nature changed. Hotter and drier weather, along with increasing human use of the wetland, caused the bubbling spring to gradually diminish until it was barely visible. Nong Nam Phut Ton Lang was left quiet and forgotten, cared for only by the residents of Ban Chong Village, Moo 1.

When the government launched a landscape improvement project at the nearby Nong Nam Phut Ton Bon, many trees in the area were cut down, making the weather even hotter and drier. News soon followed that Nong Nam Phut Ton Lang would also undergo a similar redevelopment. Fearing that the small wetland at the heart of their community would be changed forever, the people of Ban Chong Village, Moo 1 began to take action, each using their own role and abilities to protect and preserve the wetland to the best of their ability.

หนองน้ำพุตอนล่าง เป็นแหล่งน้ำเล็ก ๆ ในชุมชนชายแดน ที่อำเภอแม่สาย จังหวัดเชียงราย หนองน้ำแห่งนี้เคยเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่ผู้คนมาชมความมหัศจรรย์ของน้ำที่ผุดขึ้นมา คล้ายน้ำพุ เมื่อมีการปรบมือหรือส่งเสียงดัง แต่เมื่อเวลาผ่านไป ธรรมชาติเปลี่ยนแปลง อากาศร้อนแล้ง ผู้คนเข้ามาใช้ประโยชน์จากหนองน้ำพุตอนล่างมากขึ้น น้ำผุดที่เคยเป็นจุดขายค่อยลดน้อยลงจนแทบจะไม่เห็น หนองน้ำพุตอนล่างถูกทิ้งให้เงียบเหงา มีเพียงคนในชุมชนบ้านจ้องหมู่ 1 เป็นผู้ดูแล

เมื่อทางการมีโครงการปรับทัศนียภาพของหนองน้ำพุตอนบนที่อยู่ใกล้ ๆ ทำให้ต้นไม้ในบริเวณนั้นถูกตัดโค่น อากาศยิ่งร้อนแล้ง และมีข่าวว่าจะมีการพัฒนาทัศนียภาพของหนองน้ำพุตอนล่างในเร็วๆ นี้ ชาวบ้านบ้านจ้องหมู่1 จึงเริ่มหวั่นวิตกว่า หนองน้ำเล็ก ๆ ที่เป็นหัวใจของชุมชนแห่งนี้จะเปลี่ยนไป คนทั้งชุมชนจึงเริ่มเคลื่อนไหว ใช้บทบาทหน้าที่และศักยภาพของตนในการดูแลรักษาหนองน้ำนี้ไว้อย่างสุดความสามารถ
