วชิรญาณ์ วิรัชบุญญากร ชื่อเล่น ม่อน เกิดและเติบโตในหมู่บ้านชาติพันธุ์กะเหรี่ยงโปว์เป็นหมู่บ้านเล็กๆในอำเภอฮอด จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ได้เข้าศึกษาที่คณะรัฐศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ในโครงการชาวไทยภูเขา ในช่วงปี 4 ของมหาวิทยาลัย ได้มีโอกาสทำวิทยานิพนธ์เกี่ยวกับ ‘ปฏิญญาสหประชาชาติว่าด้วยสิทธิชนเผ่าพื้นเมืองกับการกำหนดนโยบายของรัฐไทยต่อกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์’ ถือเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนของชีวิตที่ทำให้รู้ว่าตัวเองอยากทำงานเกี่ยวกับประเด็นสิทธิของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์

Vachiraya Wiratboonyagon (Mon) was born and raised in a small Karen Poe indigenous village in Hot District, Chiang Mai Province. She went on to study Political Science at Chiang Mai University under the Hill Tribe Student Program. In her fourth year, she conducted a thesis on “The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and Thai State Policy Towards Ethnic Groups”—a turning point that led her to realize her passion for working on the rights of ethnic communities.
