PAYUUN | THAILAND'S LAST DUGONGS

สารคดีติดตามชีวิตนักอนุรักษ์หน้าใหม่ “ป๊อป” ธีรศักดิ์ ศักดิ์ศรีทวี ผู้เป็นอาสาสมัครทำงานร่วมกับนักวิทยาศาสตร์ที่อควาเรียมภูเก็ต ในการติดตามพะยูนที่ปรากฏตัวในภูเก็ตเมื่อปีที่ผ่านมา ป๊อปได้สร้างความสัมพันธ์อันใกล้ชิดกับพะยูนทั้งสองตัวชื่อว่า มิราเคิล และ จิ้งจก ป็อปบอกเล่าเรื่องราวนี้เพื่อสร้างความตระหนักให้ทุกคนก่อนที่ทุกอย่างจะสายไป ถึงประชากรพะยูนที่ลดฮวบและการสูญเสียแหล่งอาหารของพะยูนอย่างทุ่งหญ้าทะเล

PAYUUN is a documentary that follows amateur conservationist Theerasak “Pop” Saksritawee, who has been volunteering with scientists at Phuket Aquarium to monitor dugongs that appeared in Phuket last year. Pop has developed a close bond with two of his favourite dugongs, whom he has named Miracle and Jingjok. In this short film for The Guardian Documentaries, supported by The Pulitzer Center, Pop uses his voice and platform to raise awareness of the critical decline of dugongs and the loss of seagrass meadows before it is too late.
