#CCCLFF2026 Climate Stories From Local To Global Markets

[EN] As the climate crisis increasingly shapes lives across Southeast Asia, stories about its impacts remain surprisingly rare on screen. Filmmakers seeking to tell climate stories often face multiple barriers—from limited funding opportunities and market support to censorship, political sensitivities, and the broader challenges of independent filmmaking in the region. Yet local stories of environmental change, community resilience, and climate justice have the potential to resonate far beyond national borders. This conversation brings together filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals to explore the challenges and opportunities of climate storytelling in Southeast Asia, and to discuss how locally rooted narratives can connect with international audiences, navigate global markets, and contribute to a growing worldwide conversation on the climate crisis.

The international panel “Climate Film: From Local to the Global Market” on June 14 (10am - noon) will feature industry leaders from the USA, India, the Philippines and Thailand, including Lydia Dean Pilcher, Emmy-winning filmmaker, CEO of New York-based Cine Mosaic and co-founder of Global Rise: Stories for the Future, Tamseel Hussain, CEO of Delhi-based PlucTV, Thai filmmaker Primrin Puarat of Purin Film Fund, and King Catoy of Tech-Tales, EngageMedia, with Chris Lowenstein, CEO of Living Films as the moderator. Ms. Filcher and Mr. Hussain also represent the ECCA (Entertainment and Culture for Climate Action) Film and Television Steering Committee under the UNFCCC.
